Victoria Day Weekend

Wishing everyone a wonderful Victoria Day Weekend!

Victoria Day is a Canadian public holiday celebrated on the Monday preceding May 25th each year. It is observed in honor of Queen Victoria's birthday, who was the monarch of the United Kingdom from 1837 to 1901. Queen Victoria's birthday was on May 24th, and after her death, the Canadian government designated the day as a holiday to commemorate her reign and the contributions she made to Canada.

Victoria Day is often considered the unofficial start of the summer season. It is a day for Canadians to enjoy various festivities and activities, such as parades, fireworks, picnics, and outdoor events.  It’s that weekend when people work on their gardens, open up their summer cottages, air out the travel trailer and the brave ones get out their camping gear and go camping.

Over time, Victoria Day has also come to symbolize the broader celebration of Canadian identity and patriotism. It serves as a reminder of Canada's historical ties to the British monarchy and the country's development as an independent nation.
